The trolley continues south through Holmes Beach. If you want to do some shopping you can get off at the plaza where you'll find everything from art galleries, souvenier shops, clothing stores, restaurants, liquor stores and the Holmes Beach post office. If you're looking for some island night life and music, here is where you'll find it -The New Barefoot Tiki Bar has music nightly Wed to Sunday from 7Pm to 10PM. Or you might want to continue to the Manatee County Beach where you can enjoy the Gulf of Mexico and have lunch at the Cafe on the Beach. Further south is the island's only grocery store, pharmacies along with the island's oddest restaurant... Mr. Bones, where BBQ is an art that has been perfected.

Continuing south you'll come to Bradenton Beach. Make sure you take a walk down Bridge Street and enjoy the Bridge Street Pier that looks over the intracoastal waterway. If you have your fishing pole ready, you can catch your dinner off the pier. There are a lot of little boutique shops and places for lunch or dinner along the way. Along the route to Bridge Street you might have noticed the BeachHouse restaurant.. a lovely place to enjoy a sunset dinner on the deck. A little further down at the southern end of the island is Coquina Beach, a long stretch of white sugar sand that ends at the bridge to Longboat Key. One stop you might want to make in Bradenton Beach is Joe's Eats and Sweets.. a local favorite for ice cream treats.

Ive been to joes more then the average person! I can't even being to explain the selection or quality of this ice cream! From the sundaes to the homemade waffle cones you cant go wrong, its worth every penny. Although it is very busy in there most nights its definitely worth the wait! I would recommend this sweet shop to anyone visiting Anna Maria Island! Oh ya and who can forget about the 32 oz shave ice?! So wonderful in the summertime

Throw on your bathing suit cover up, put on your flip flops and grab your dog, it's burger time! A definite must-eat! These burgers are a classic - just like the place that sells them. This place is the "meat and potatoes" of AMI. This is the true island flavor.... funky little shack with great greasy burgers and beers. It is literally a TINY shack -- chicken wire as windows, cement-sandy floors and about 4 picnic tables crowded into a little area also considered the bar. And yes, doggies are allowed in and around the premises. This place is always slammed. If you're a bit claustrophobic not to worry, there are more picnic tables outside.

What a special little place on Anna Maria Island, not much to look at. But what a lunch we had here and it was amazing. we are from the uk and were driving around Anna maria island, my fiancée mentioned a place she had visited when younger on a previous trip and so we hunted it down. Slim’s has a great atmosphere that throws off a strong local vibe of positive “stuff.” It’s not uncommon to go into Slim’s alone and walk out with several new found friends. Florida Maritime Museum Come aboard as we undertake a voyage in time and tradition. Our port of call is somewhere in the past, but the harbor is a modern museum facility housed in the restored historic 1912 Schoolhouse located on the park like grounds of the Cortez Nature Preserve. Here you will find, displayed for your delight, pieces of the almost forgotten past. At the Florida Maritime Museum at Cortez you will find the Banks Shell collection, ship models, historic boats and a surprise butterfly garden. Families and community members will have the opportunity to build boats and learn boat related skills in the historic Pillsbury Boat Shop. Weekend workshops and ongoing programs will include building a racing Puddle Duck complete with a sail rig and Skin on Frame kayaks. Just over the bridge from Anna Maria Island.

Explore Leffis Key on a series of trails and boardwalks through mangrove tunnels on the Coquina Baywalk. A unspoiled sliver between the Gulf of Mexico and Sarasota Bay, Leffis Key sits between Bradenton Beach and Longboat Key. Although the entire trail system is less than a mile, it’s fun to explore. The trails offer great views of the bay from observation decks hidden away in the mangroves—you feel like you’re peeking out of tunnels! Climb to the top of the spoil piles for a sweeping view of the bay and ocean. Leffis Key is 3.2 miles south of the Anna Maria Causeway on East Bay Drive, just south of Bradenton Beach. The park entrance is on the left, across from the beach on Anna Maria Island..

The Museum is a small building with photographs and memorabilia of Anna Maria Island. The most striking aspects of it were the aerial views in terms of seeing the development of the island from the 1950's to now and talking with the docent who was staffing the Museum on a Saturday afternoon. Like every place else Anna Maria is a product of geography and particular people who make it special. We learned a lot about present day Anna Maria from the docent.

This beach was absolutely gorgeous! Decent shelling, no crowds, family's of rays near shore, crystal green waters, white sands, totally undeveloped raw beach at its best. Bean Point is on the Northern tip of Anna Maria Island!
